It works much better for splines because both sides glue well. With other brands you will have to research whether their product contains oils which may cause problems later. Untempered masonite that has been tinted dark is most likely to cause problems with the ground bleeding. I buy mine at home depot, but i am sure they have this stuff at most hardware stores. I use duron untempered hardboard. If it’s the “masonite” it has a wax coat, tape will take a while before the sticky reacts with the wax.
